Screen Discharge Hood Upgrade

During the repair and refurbishment of the Screen Discharge Hood the drawing team undertook a complete drawing pack upgrade along with design upgrades.

Part of the detail upgrades required bringing the material specs up to modern standards. Since the original drawings were produced by hand in 1971 the material profiles specified are no longer in use. In addition, the reference dimensions were in inches and the asset had seen a number of on-site modifications during its lifetime.

The drawing team: captured site changes, updated the material profiles, had the lifting points engineered & certified and modified the stairs & access platform design. We then re-modelled the entire assembly including 2 internal swing gates, improving usability elements like locking pins and inspection doors.

The final result was a marked improvement both from a detail and practicality standpoint.
