Reclaimer Bucket Wheel
As part of a refurbishment project for a reclaimer bucket wheel it became clear that the structure required reinforcing. However since the wheel was already warped, we needed a novel approach.
After modelling the chute in 3D we had the entire warped surface 3D scanned. Using that point cloud data we were able to see the real deviation from the original design.
We used the point data to model 36 unique profile cut stiffener plates to match the exact shape of the steelwork for each location. Each plate was marked on the accompanying in house detail drawings.
